Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have solidified their resolve to enhance their bilateral relationship, focusing on expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, transportation, and regional connectivity. This reaffirmation of commitment was made during the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group held in Ankara, with the foreign ministers of both nations leading the discussions.
The meeting saw officials from both countries reviewing the progress made in their bilateral relations and expressing their intent to strengthen collaborations in crucial sectors. These sectors include education, cultural exchanges, and economic development. The discussions also covered preparations for future reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, underscoring the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement.
Economic cooperation emerged as a key focus, with both Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan pledging support for new investment initiatives and creating conducive environments for business operations. The countries intend to enhance travel, employment, and educational opportunities as a means to foster closer people-to-people connections. A significant aspect of their dialogue was regional connectivity, with Kyrgyzstan emphasizing the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor. The nation aims to integrate the proposed China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway into this corridor, thereby improving access to European and Middle Eastern markets through Türkiye.
Security issues, both regional and global, were also on the agenda, with both nations reiterating their commitment to resolving conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan acknowledged Türkiye’s role in mediating regional tensions and expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s support in its successful bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.
Kyrgyzstan conveyed its intention to advocate for dialogue among nations on the global stage, with a particular focus on representing the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous nations, and small island states. This reflects a broader diplomatic vision of engaging constructively in international affairs while advancing the specific needs and perspectives of diverse nations.
